Biography:
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, October 3rd, 1977, I developed an early fascination for art and its many different sides. Studied the arts all throughout my early education, earning medals, various honors and high recognition among the best artists and students of my home town, Vega Alta, PR all before graduating high school in 1995. My main interests were in animation which was nurtured by large influential animation studios like Walt Disney Feature Animation and its recent projects at the time; Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and his favorite The Lion King. My artistic style was soon influenced in a big way by works that were far from Disney's utopian ideals and, more raw like in Japanese Anime. Soon after entering a four-year degree program in Media Arts & Animation at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida USA, I began to broaden my horizons with styles and influences far more reminiscient of my own subtleties as an artist. I was most inspired by the works of reknown Japanese director-animator Hayao Miyazaki. This is where my new way of looking at animation as a medium for storytelling came from. Earlier anime itself had a major impact on me as well as an aspiring student. Anime like Sailor Moon, Windaria, and Robot Carnival's - Presense, were but just a few of the ideas that pumped up my own work during the early days in animation college. Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, and most of all Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, are to this day my biggest influences to create a new style all my own, but still reflecting the always present masterworks of this animators. With a major in animation and a minor in media and graphic design, I took onto a Creative Director position for a governmental advertisement division where I currently manage tasks from concept to final product. Over the years I've developed an interest for advertisement and creative work as a whole. Exploring areas like photography, ad campaigns, audio editing, conceptual work and design. Who knows where my multifaceted dream will lead me ... but for now I can say I love animation and I love design! Watch out world here I come!
